A documentary edit keeps returning to its source material: a half-remembered answer, a better delivery, or coverage that becomes useful after notes. Stringout makes the indexed interview and footage library searchable while the editor shapes and revises the cut.

How Stringout solves this

01

How do you find a moment when you cannot remember the file?

Search what was said across indexed interviews, or describe a shot to search analyzed coverage. Open a result to check the recording and surrounding context before using it. Free, unlimited on-device transcription and AI let you prepare a long backlog without local processing-hour charges.

Describe the coverage you remember to find its source recording.

02

Which interview answer belongs in the first cut?

Compare candidate answers in their recordings so delivery and context inform the choice, then consider the coverage beside them. Auto-Assemble proposes a first cut from the prepared project. Review its selected source ranges and picture and sound before continuing the sequence in your NLE.

Compare sources before accepting a first cut

Record the actual Stringout flow in a project with two indexed interviews and coverage. Show source inspection and a reviewable Auto-Assemble sequence so the editor can see the choice behind the first cut.

  1. Open one interview search result and inspect its source passage.
  2. Open an alternate answer from a second interview and compare its delivery.
  3. Run Auto-Assemble on the prepared project and open the proposed cut.
  4. Inspect a selected range and its picture and sound in the sequence.

03

How do you find a replacement after the cut changes?

Keep searching the indexed library after the first assembly. When notes call for another line or shot, inspect the unused source, revise the sequence, and open that cut as a target-specific project in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro. Finish timing, sound and picture in the editor you already use.

The result

A first cut with sources you can revisit

Review the sequence, open it in your NLE, and return to the indexed interviews and coverage when the story needs another answer. The editor can check each choice against its source and keep shaping the cut.
